The Glen Moyer Tartan Scarf

80.00

LIMITED OFFER! Available to the public for the first time, this private label restricted tartan is now available only through this site.

I created my Glen Moyer tartan to honor my Scottish ancestry and my Texas birthright. The colors are taken from the Scottish Saltire and the Texas “Lone Star” flags. Constellation (Navy) blue from the Texas flag, Klein (cobalt) blue, my absolute favorite color, Sailor (Sky) blue from the Scottish Saltire, along with Ruby red from the Lone Star, Ice white from both flags. The single red and white strikes through the fields of blue represent the single stripes on the Lone Star and the cross on the Scottish Saltire. Each also salutes my parents; red, my Father’s favorite color, white for pearl, my Mother’s birthstone. Individual thread counts of each color in the sett carry other personal significance that tell the story of my passion for Scotland. All of this is detailed in the personally signed card that accompanies each scarf. (To read more of the story of the design of my tartan see the posts “My Tartan Journey” on the blog at www.agleninscotland.scot)

This tartan was designed by the incomparable Clare Campbell and woven by her Prickly Thistle Ltd. team at their pop-up mill on the Black Isle in the Scottish Highlands. You may be familiar with their name from the recent and hugely successful #BuildTheMill campaign on Kickstarter. Each scarf is crafted of luxurious merino worsted wool sourced from the Scottish Highlands. Generously cut and slightly oversized when compared to the typical tartan scarf sold in most online and high street shops, each measures 200cm x 35cm or approximately 79x14 inches (Compare to standard tartan scarves typically at 70” x 10 or 12”). The generous sizing allows the scarf to be styled in a variety of ways for maximum flexibility as a fashion statement accessory.. Finally, each is finished with custom labeling certifying the unique individuality and Scottish originality of the product. (For more on designer Clare Campbell and the Prickly Thistle story, see their website www.pricklythistlescotland.com)
